    My Antonia Questins

Willa Cather in her novel My Antonia (yes, a signal phrase) offers her view of life during the pioneer time.

How would My Antonia be different if it were told from Antonia's perspective?
I believe it would be better in Antonia's perspective because Cather is a girl and wouldn't have to pretend to be a man. I believe it would be more realistic but that is my opinion.

How effective is Cather, a woman, at narrating a story from the point of view of a man? Does Jim sound like a man writing, or does the narrative sound like a woman pretending to be a man?
Cather is pretty effective pretending to be Jim but at times you can tell its a girl narrating but very rarely.

Why do you think Jim changed the title from Antonia to My Antonia?
Jim changed the title because this isn't about every Antonia. It's about the Antonia that he new in his head and he said my because people may not have thought what he thought about Antonia.

    the effects of a setting

Author Willa Cather embedded literary devices, such as metaphors, similes, and personification, within her writing.

"As I looked about me I felt that the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of wine-stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running."

"The grave, with its tall red grass that was never mowed, was like a little island."

"Winter comes down savagely over a little town on the prairie. The wind that sweeps in from the open country strips away all the leafy screens that hide one yard from another in summer, and the houses seem to draw closer together. The roofs, that looked so far away across the green treetops, now stare you in the face, and they are so much uglier than when their angles were softened by vines and shrubs.

The setting has a huge effect on the characters in the novel in many forms such as the weather. The towns people are cold in chapter 8 book 2 because it is winter and the book said that they run to the heat and the stoves are like magnets. Tony tells story's were the heat was so bad he thought it was going to cook the earth and the min at the mill would hide under the wagon just to get some shade.

I picture the story as a old town you see in the old western movies were when it hasn't rained in weeks and as the wind blows it is like a solid sheet of dirt the dust is so thick. I think the houses were old log house that you could lithely fill the wind blowing threw. As I'm Reading this book i see cactus that you have to watch out fore and a lot of snakes as the one that Jim calmed down to keep from striking and horses either sweating or have ice hanging off of them depending on the seasons. I picture the spring rains that come make the whole country green. I see the farmers trying to put up hay for the winter. i smell the warm apple pies that the women bake and the fresh lemonade.

    book review

The book, Touching Spirt Bear, by Ben Mikaelsen horrified me withits gruesome details. I thought the book was,for the most part veryinteresting. The theme is to take responsibility for your own actions. Cole was sent to Alaska as punishment for what he did to Peter. Proceding his sentence to Alaska, Cole's sellfish act of burning down the natives had built for him witch lead him to haveing to sleep in the cold, Alaskan rain. The author slowes down in certian areas of the book by giveing way to much detail. This causes me to get bored and want to put down the book, Cole is a very angered boy, who has had a realy hard life. He blames his parents for his bad ways because of their drinking habits. This book relates to the book, The Red Badge of Courage, because both books portray the same theme. Even though Touching Spirit Bear, has a few boring points, it is for the most part very interesting.

    Wounded Warrior

I stand strongly and support this charity organization greatly because they help hundreds and up to thousends of wounded soldgers every year with medical bills and other bills to help thim get back on there feet.

The wounded warrior project doesn't only help the warriors but also the family of them.

    Rememdering 9/11

When I'm remembering September, 11 I remember a horrible and horrific day that took a lot of innocent Americans. They thank that they have done a wonderful thing and the men who were flying the plains gave the ultimate sacrafised but they are killers and if they wouldn't have killed there self's they should be shot.

The flayers of Al-Qaeda took four plains full of innocent people trying to get home to there friends or families and flew two of the plains into NY city and hit the twin towers and one into the Pentagon and one crashed into a field after a group of brave Americans rebelled and took the plain over but they didn't have a pilot because he had been killed but they saved many more lives by sacrificing there own.

    Henery vs. Forest

    My inference about running

I believe that in certian cases the human mind and bodys first instint is to run and run like youve never ran befor.
In the book the red badge of courage, Henry ran in the battle when he wasnt instructed to whitch is a horable afince in the army and he left his redgamint and put there lives in more danger when the lutinate was tellin them to stay and fight.
In the movie forest gump, forest fallowed the orders of his lutinate and ran but than he turned around and whent back in to get his redgamint.
as you can see people run for diffrent reasons.
